Papaya known as papaws or pawpaws is a tropical fruit with sweet taste, vibrant color and the wide variety of health benefits they provide make them a popular fruit. They are a soft, fleshy fruit that can be used in a wide variety of culinary ways. Papaya is native to Mexico. However, it grows naturally in the Caribbean and Florida too. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations India produces the most papayas – over 5 million tons in 2013. This fruit can be added to salads, smoothies, and other dishes.

Protein (1.3g) and a low amount (less than 1g) of Fat.

1. Antioxidants and fiber in papaya helps to prevent heart diseases.

2. It lowers blood cholesterol level.

3. Two enzymes in papaya- papain and chymopapain helps in digestion and prevent inflammation.
